David Helmers is a co-producer of Railbird Music Festival and a Partner and Founder of Black Mountain Management, LLC.
Mr. Helmers holds a law degree (’97) from the University of Kentucky College of Law and an undergraduate degree (’91, BA Psychology) from Rollins College. He has lived in Lexington for over 25 years where he provides business consultation services and has partnered in numerous entrepreneurial and civic ventures.
In 2019, David created Railbird Music Festival in partnership with Live Nation. Railbird is a music festival that celebrates all things Central Kentucky – including bourbon, equine culture, and local cuisine. The two-day music festival hosted over thirty artists on three stages in 2021. Over 32,500 fans attended each day coming from all 50 states. Railbird has generated over $135,000.00 to local charities since 2019. These charities include Fayette Alliance, Central Kentucky Riding for Hope (CKRH) and the Central Music Academy (CMA).
David has served on numerous non-profit boards over the past twenty years. He is currently a director of the Rex Chapman Foundation – a 501(C)(3) organization with a mission to alleviate the harm caused by opioid addiction in America.
David is married to Anne Billingsley Helmers and they have raised two children Laney (23) and Lee (19) in Lexington.
