Dianet Valencia Downs is an educator, community organizer, small business owner, athlete and proud mother of one.
She has worked tirelessly to bridge the language gap for Latino immigrants as well as facilitate their mainstream integration into society.
Dianet is a native of Mexico and was formerly involved in various leadership roles in Schaumburg, Illinois and continues to do so today in Lexington.
She was appointed by Lexington Mayor Theresa Isaac to serve on the mayor’s task force for Hispanic Workforce Development and also served on the Social Services Transition Committee under Mayor Jim Gray.
In 2012 Governor Steve Beshear appointed Dianet to serve on the Governor’s Minority Employment, Business Affairs and Economic Development Council.
She is an Honorary Ambassador of Labor and a Kentucky Colonel.
Dianet presently serves as the Latino Outreach Program Coordinator for the Kentucky Labor Cabinet.
