Let's Keep Our Community Safe

COVID-19 has shown how our community is interconnected.

But everyone’s experience of the pandemic has not been the same.

At the start of the pandemic here in Lexington, critical information was only being released in English, even though more than 185 languages are spoken in Lexington.

RADIOLEX worked with the Mayor’s Office, the Governor’s Office, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, and many non-profit community partners to ensure no one in our community was left out of the conversation.

As we move forward, RADIOLEX wants to ensure everyone has access to resources to stay healthy and keep our community safe.

With generous support from the Kentucky Department of Public Health, Office of Health Equity, RADIOLEX will share preventative health tips each month on television, radio, and online in English and the top 10 other languages spoken in our community: Spanish, Swahili, Arabic, Japanese, Nepali, French, Chinese (Mandarin), Kinyarwanda, Korean, and Portuguese.

RADIOLEX will also collaborate with local community partners to offer free wellness clinics at a variety of local events around Lexington.  These clinics will offer a variety of health screenings for blood pressure, cancer risk, and hearing as well as COVID boosters, the flu, and other vaccines required for school, travel, and general health.

Check this page often for new events and information.  If you have questions, please contact us using the form below.

    Let’s Build Healthy Habits

    Get regular checkups.
Even when you feel healthy, checkups can help catch problems early, when they’re usually easiest to treat. It’s always a good idea to review your medications with your healthcare provider and pharmacist.
    Exercise.
Move your body at least 30 minutes a day. Exercise is good for your heart and improves strength and balance.
    Quit tobacco.
People who use tobacco (including smokeless tobacco) have a higher risk for heart attack, stroke, lung disease, and throat and mouth cancer. If you’re a tobacco user, quitting is the most important thing you can do right now to improve your health.
    Eat healthy foods.
Include fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your meals. Drink water and avoid sugary beverages.
    Keep your vaccines up-to-date.
Vaccines help protect you against diseases that can be serious and sometimes deadly. Vaccines don't just protect you. They also protect the people around you. Children and adults should stay current on COVID, flu, and other vaccines.
