When Emergencies occur in our community, we are licensed to provide up-to-date, relevant information specific to the community we serve.
RADIOLEX has a special designation from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which calls our station to designate a portion of our programming and air time to ‘public safety’.
Preparedness is the best defense for an Emergency. Every hour, we air public service announcements (PSAs) every hour featuring important safety information and notices. Our local, original programming features emergency information and resources from city emergency response personnel including local police and fire departments.
During severe weather and community emergencies, RADIOLEX will broadcast vital, real-time information tailored for our listeners.
RADIOLEX works closely with local public health officials and service organizations to help keep our community safe and healthy.
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis and during the vaccine rollout, RADIOLEX has taken a leadership role. Our stations and website have provided critical safety and public health information in over 20 languages to non-English speakers in our community. There are more than 185 languages are spoken in Lexington. RADIOLEX’s team of volunteer interpreters won recognition from the Governor’s office, the Kentucky Colonels, and the Kentucky World Language Association
