Juan Castro was born in Quito, Ecuador, South America and immigrated to the United Sates in 1979 when his father was appointed by the Ecuadorian government to the Houston Consulate.
Mr. Castro grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel & Restaurant Management.
Mr. Castro and his family moved to Kentucky in 1994. Juan continued on to graduate school at Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a master’s in business administration with an emphasis in Accounting in 2000.
Juan has been working with non-profit organizations since 1995, first as an accountant for Jewish Hospital both in Louisville and Lexington and later as a consultant with a regional CPA firm in Lexington.
Currently, Juan is the president of JCC Consulting Group where they focus exclusively in helping non-profit organizations develop sound internal controls and reporting through the use of fund accounting software.
Juan has also volunteered with a number of non-profit organizations including the Girl Scouts, United Way, and the Lexington Hispanic Education Association where he served as treasurer for 5 years and is now the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Juan has also volunteered with the Newport Aquarium, The World Equestrian Games, The Breeders’ Cup, Real Men Read program at Coventry Oak Elementary, The IRS VITA Program, Bryan Station High School Band Association, and The Committee On Equal Opportunity at the Council for Post-Secondary Education.
Juan has been married to Marguerite for 28 years. They have three grown children.
