Media ownership matters.
Media coverage determines the way we view issues. When local people are not involved in shaping news and content, issues important to the community get ignored. Issues like economic inclusion, quality public education, access to health care, racism, immigration reform, hate crime prevention, and more.Not about us, without us.
Racial and ethnic minorities, women, older Americans, and people with disabilities are under-represented in the media. Women and people of color hold less than 7% of all radio and television broadcast licenses. Often, no one can speak with authority about their experience. That means little or incomplete media coverage of issues important to them. We are proud to have a diverse board of directors who reflect the communities we serve.Low Power = High Impact
In 2000, Congress and the FCC inaugurated a new designation called Low Power FM, for non-commercial and non-profit radio. The LPFM designation fosters diversity on the public airwaves, allowing a range of voices and points-of-view not found in national and regional corporate media. Community radio is the voice of the people. Community radio stations serve geographic communities and communities of interest. They broadcast content that is popular and relevant to a local, specific audience but is often overlooked by commercial or mass-media broadcasters. Community radio stations are operated, owned, and influenced by the communities they serve.

Timely, In-Depth Progressive Analysis: Between The Lines is a weekly syndicated half-hour news magazine featuring progressive perspectives on national and international political, economic and social issues. Because Between The Lines is independent of all publications, media networks or political parties, we are able to bring a diversity of voices to the airwaves. This award-winning program provides a platform for individuals and organizations generally ignored or marginalized in corporate media. Each week, Between The Lines features: A five-minute summary of some of the week's under-reported news stories gathered from the alternative press and other sources. Three in-depth interview segments focusing on significant international, national and regional issues. Our Goal: Supporting Citizen Activism In presenting interviews connected with current events, political issues and societal debates, our program serves as a networking resource for communities fighting for social justice here in the U.S. and around the world.
